Rushdan Rushil

Automotive photography, Toronto

Hey, I’m Rushdan, but most people call me Rush.

I’ve always been the kind of person who gets way too excited about cars, cameras, and finding the right way to make something look good. Long before I owned a camera, I was doing exactly that in Forza Horizon 3 and Assetto Corsa, spending hours moving virtual cars around just to get the shot I had in my head.

Eventually, playing photographer in a video game wasn’t enough. I bought a real camera, started showing up to car meets around the GTA, and asking people if I could shoot their cars. I didn’t really have a plan. I just loved cars, wanted to make cool images, and figured I’d learn the rest along the way.

That mindset has stuck with me. I still love discovering cars I’ve never seen before, meeting the people behind them, and figuring out how to tell their story through a photograph. Sometimes that means finding the perfect location and waiting for the light. Sometimes it means bringing my own light, building the shot piece by piece and putting it all together afterwards.

I shoot everything from individual features to meets, track days and launches. Whether it’s one car sitting quietly somewhere after sunset or an entire event unfolding around me, I want the final image to feel like more than just a picture of a car. I want it to make you stop for a second.

The work has been nominated twice at the International Motor Film Awards, but at the end of the day, I’m still chasing the same thing I was in those games years ago: seeing something cool, getting an idea in my head, and figuring out how to bring it to life.

If you’ve got a car, a story, or just an idea you think would make for a great shoot, I’d love to hear from you.
